| 2006: Entered the program as a running back and moved to the defensive side early in the season ... competed in all 13 games as a member of the kickoff and punt teams ... earned a share of UC's Scout Team Player of the Year award ... named Scout Team Player of the Week for the Pittsburgh game ... Bearcat Academic Honor Roll (Fall 2006, Winter 2007)
Brother Rice High School: First team all-state selection as a senior for head coach Al Fracassa... helped the Warriors to a 12-2 record and the 2005 Division 2 state championship... rushed for 1,917 yards, averaging 7.4 yards per carry, and 18 touchdowns and finished with 2,145 all-purpose yards and 21 TDs in his final campaign... two-way performer who made 67 tackles, five pass breakups and had four interceptions and two fumble recoveries as a safety...captain of the Detroit Free Press All-State Dream Team and was honored on the Detroit News Dream Team...ranked No. 13 on the Detroit Free Press Michigan Fab 50 Football Prospects... rushed for 1,173 yards as a junior to earn first team all-league and all-Catholic recognition... boasted perfect attendance from grades 6-12.
John Goebel: Born Nov. 19, 1987...son of Karl and Kristin Goebel...older brother, Mark played football at Michigan State.
