When Mark Dantonio recruited Reggie Fugett, Bearcat Insider told fans the Baltimore, Maryland native also excelled in baseball. While there was talk of Fugett playing for Brian Cleary’s team, the football staff stressed it depended upon how Reggie did in the classroom and on the football field before any decision would be made. Well that decision has now been made and Fugett will join the baseball team and play first base.
Joining Connor Barwin, John Bowie and Jared Martin as multi-sport athletes, the University of Cincinnati is showing athletes that excel in other sports can find a home for both and do well. Fugett’s joining the baseball program also helps the team as it learns to play after losing last seasons starting first baseman Logan Parker.
Fugett who stands 6-6 and 250 pounds attended The Gillman School where he played three seasons of hardball hitting .438 during his senior season as a first baseman and designated hitter.
The Bearcats baseball team is gearing up for their season opener against Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton, Florida on February 9th. Bearcat Insider will have a special package of interviews with Coach Brian Cleary this week for our premium members.
