Knight has Cincinnati on radar

Despite great wide receiving depth this season for the Cincinnati Bearcats and adding quality wide outs seemingly every recruiting cycle, head coach Butch Jones and his staff continues to look to add more quality players who can stretch the field.

In that vein, Cincinnati has shown interest in Detroit Country Day wide receiver Kenny Knight, and the interest is mutual.

"I've always loved Cincinnati," Knight said. "When I went down there (for a spring practice) I had a great time and I'm itching to get back."

The 6-foot-4 wide receiver with 4.5 40-yard dash speed and good hands does not currently hold an offer from Cincinnati, but is hoping that will change.

"They're definitely up there in my recruiting list and I have a lot of interest in them," Knight said. "Hopefully they can take it to another level and offer soon so I can start considering them more thoroughly and spend some more time with them."

Knight had previous contact with Butch Jones, being recruited by Jones when Jones was at Central Michigan but also was familiar with Cincinnati, being recruited by former head coach Brian Kelly.

While Cincinnati runs an offense that is attractive for many wide receiver recruits, the style of offense is not something Knight said he would concern himself with when making his decision.

"I'm the kind of player that I think I can fit in anywhere and can play for any school so that's not going to be a big factor," Knight said. "I'll probably focus in more on the position the coaches tell me I'd be playing and how much that position gets the ball to be a playmaker."

So what is it that Knight likes about Cincinnati?

"They have a great team, they're a great school. Everything about them was amazing, in my opinion. They definitely have a lot to offer," Knight said.

It's hard to believe that a 6-foot-4 wide receiver with 4.5 40-yard dash speed and good hands could be an under the radar type of prospect, but for now that is what Knight has been thus far.

While Knight is getting interest from BCS programs like Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin and Cincinnati, he currently only holds three BCS offers: Wisconsin, Indiana and Minnesota. Knight also holds offers from Central Michigan, Toledo, Bowling Green and Western Michigan.
