Will Bass be a Bearcat?

Ryan Bass and the Dayton Dunbar Wolverines took on the 14th ranked Whitney Young from Illinois. The game showcased several players in front of a sellout crowd at the Flying to the Hoop tournament. But while Whitney Young came in highly ranked, the night belonged to Dunbar as they took out Whitney Young 98-74, in front of Cincinnati coach Mick Cronin and a couple members of his staff.

One of the big stars of the night for the Wolverines was senior Ryan Bass, a 5'9 point guard who transferred from Chaminade Julienne to Dunbar for his senior season and is considering Cincinnati. Cincinnati has yet to offer the senior guard, but has shown interest in the Dayton product.

Bass also had a nice performance on Sunday night scoring 13 points in front of the Cincinnati staff and added two rebounds, two steals, and one assist. He also showed his leadership on the night as he ran the show and controlled the tempo of the game, getting Dunbar into good situations.

Bearcat Insider was able to sit down with Ryan about his recruiting and what he thinks about the move to Dunbar and if he would fit in Mick Cronin's system.

Q: How do you feel the transition to Dunbar is going?

RB: It is going extremely well, my teammates and I are really coming along and I feel that there is a hunger that cannot be described. It is a hunger that is often talked about on championship teams.

Q: Do you feel playing for Dunbar is helping prepare you for the next level?

RB: Yes I do, the up tempo play and the relentless defense can really help. We also run a lot of sets.

Q: Coach Cronin was in attendance against Whitney Young, does that add pressure?

RB: No not at all I have reached the point in my basketball career to where I don't feel any pressure on the court because basketball is something I truly love to do, so there is no pressure at all.

Q: Who other than Cincinnati are you considering?

RB: Oakland, Cleveland State, Baylor, Miami (OH), Syracuse, Depaul, Duquense, and Loyola-Chicago

Q: How do you feel you fit in Cincinnati's system?

RB: I think I would be a good fit. I can push it, I can distribute, and I can slow it down, and set up. I can lock up my man and I can even score in bunches.

Q: How do you respond to people who question your size, being 5'9?

RB: I usually let my actions speak for themselves.

Q: Have you visited UC?

RB: Yes unofficially, a few times. I am very familiar with the campus though my sister is a '09 UC graduate.

Q: Thoughts on Coach Cronin?

RB: I like him as a coach. He really seems to have a clue on what needs to be done for UC to be successful.

Q: Do you have a timetable on when you want the recruiting process finished?

RB: I would like to have made my decision by March.
