Bearcats Hit Recruiting Trail Hard For 2011

Chris Rock

September 1st was the opening of recruiting for the Class of 2011 for college programs across the country. The University of Cincinnati was not alone in handing out offers but from the looks of things Brian Kelly and his staff have their eyes on some big-time talent.

While the ink has not been placed to paper for the Class of 2010, it's officially time for colleges from across the country to start working on the Class of 2011. Brian Kelly and his staff was no different and Bearcats Insider has worked the phones to find out who some of the top targets are in the class.

Braxton Miller – QB Huber Heights (Ohio) HS

Miller caught the eye of the Bearcats staff early as they gave him a verbal offer during his freshman year. A major recruit who is getting offers from both coasts, Miller has Ohio State, UCLA, LSU, Georgia, Miami (Fla), along with others already on board. Built with a strong arm and great speed Miller is a major weapon and the type of quarterback Brian Kelly could make even better.

Chris Rock – DE/TE Columbus (Ohio) St. Francis DeSales

Rock has seen his name thrown around now for a couple of years as one of Ohio's top prospects in the Class of 2011. At just under 6-foot-5, Rock is projected by some as a rush defensive end while others see a future tight end or offensive lineman in the making. Notre Dame, Michigan, Duke and Pittsburgh are some of the schools to have already offer.

Cole Stoudt – QB Dublin (Ohio) Coffman HS

The son of a former NFL quarterback, Cole Stoudt has the arm Brian Kelly and his staff looks for in a quarterback. Stoudt earned his offer in camp and the Bearcats hope to sign either Stoudt or Miller in the Class of 2011.

Brad Carrico – OT Dublin (Ohio) Coffman HS

The type of player Brian Kelly has shown high interest in since coming to UC is Carrico. Tall and lean with room to build in Paul Longo's weight program, Carrico has got a huge upside and many more programs will soon jump on board.

Trey DePriest – LB Springfield (Ohio) High School

DePriest is a major linebacker talent who has picked up early offers from Michigan, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Pittsburgh and Stanford to name a few. At 6-foot-2, 230-pounds, DePriest would be a major pickup for the Bearcats. Also plays fullback at Springfield High (Ohio).

Hakeem Flowers – WR Greenville (SC) Wade Hampton HS

Flowers has picked up a lot of interest and is considered a big-time play maker at wide receiver. Auburn, Florida State, LSU, Nebraska, Texas Tech and others are also on board for the 6-foot-3, 180-pound wide receiver from South Carolina with 4.4 forty speed.

Jarrett Grace – LB/DE Cincinnati (Ohio) Colerain

Grace is the type of player the Bearcats look for in their 3-4 schemes. Long and lanky with good speed makes Grace a high target for the Bearcats. Look for others to jump on board as they see more of Grace this season.

Doran Grant – Cornerback Akron (Ohio) St. Vincent-St. Mary HS

Grant has a lot going for him and the Bearcats have their name on the board. At 5-foot-10, 170-pounds, Grant has speed to burn with a 4.37 forty time. Grant has picked up early offers from Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Georgia and Georgia Tech to name a few. Big time talent and one of the countries top corner prospects.

Eiler Hardy – CB/S Pickerington (Ohio) Central HS

Hardy has seen early playing time in high school and is considered one of the top defensive prospects in the state of Ohio for the 2011 class. Maryland has also offered and many more are expected.

Jesse Hayes – DE Cincinnati (Ohio) Moeller

The son of a coach is showing early signs of being one of the top prospects in the Cincinnati area. The Bearcats have jumped on board and hope to keep Hayes in town for his college career. Has also been offered by Kentucky and North Carolina State.

A.J. Jordan – WR Trotwood (Ohio) Madison HS

At just under 6-foot-3 and with blazing speed Jordan is another hot prospect the Bearcats hope to pull into the fold. They have the offense to allow Jordan to post big numbers and he's got the skills.
