Game MVP Game Balls
Connor Barwin – DE
The Michigan native may have enjoyed his best night as a Bearcat making things happen on both sides of the ball. The legend continues to grow as Barwin made big plays on the defensive side of the ball with seven total tackles with one for a loss and a pass break-up. But in the forth quarter Brian Kelly brought Barwin in for a goal line play on offense only to see the former tight-end catch a 1-yard pass from Tony Pike giving the Bearcats their final score of the night.
Mardy Gilyard – WR
Not only did Gilyard enjoy a good night on the field but also off the field. On the field Gilyard pulled down 4 passes for 98 yards and a touchdown while also having two kickoff returns for 42 yards. Off the field the Florida native came up short on a pass play in the corner that took him into the seats at Nippert Stadium where he ran into a young fan. Instead of rushing back onto the field Mardy picked the kid up and gave him a hug. The gesture has now been seen by millions and Gilyard has earned much praise for his show of compassion to the young fan.

Offensive Game Balls
John Goebel – RB
Goebel averaged 4.6 yards per carry and also scored a touchdown while also pulling down 3 passes for 43 yards.
Ben Guidugli – TE
Guidugli may have only pulled down 2 passes but Bearcat fans will remember the circus catch he made and the one he almost made.
Tony Pike – QB
The Tony Pike fans saw in his first two starts returned on Thursday as Pike went 20-28-1 for 281 yards and 2 touchdowns. The performance is a good sign as the Bearcats get ready to head to Morgantown.
Defensive Game Balls
Corey Smith – LB
The senior had two tackles for loss with seven tackles overall on the night. Early in the game it was Smith who made the Bearcats defense tough on the Bulls.
Lamonte Nelms – DE
The senior posted 4 tackles with two being for loss while also getting a sack and an interception. If not for Barwins great game Nelms would have been hard to beat for the overall Game MVP.
Mike Mickens – CB
Mickens adds to his interception totals with his pick on Thursday night that he returned for 58 yards.
Brandon Underwood – CB
The first year player forced a fumble while also making 9 total tackles on the night.
DeAngelo Smith – S
Smith also added to his interception total while providing great coverage.
Special Teams Game Balls
Charlie Howard – WR
Howard posted 3 total tackles on the night. Not bad for a guy that was a key part of the Bearcats offense last year.
Collin McCafferty – LB
Each week we watch as McCafferty gives up his body to blowing up in the main wedge on kick returns. He did the same Thursday night posting a tackles to go with it.
