After going back and watching the Bearcats loss to Oklahoma, Bearcat Insider came away with the following Game Balls for players who had top performances.
Game MVP Game Ball
Is there any question the impact Gilyard had on the game? The do-it-all Gilyard just raised his game to a new level against one of the countries top teams and did it on offense and special teams. For the day Gilyard pulled down 7 balls for 119 yards. But his biggest damage came on special teams where he returned 5 kickoffs for 246 yards including a 97 yard return for a touchdown.
Offensive Game Balls
The senior quarterback didn’t back down to a giant challenge before going out late in the game with an injury. On the day Dustin was 19 of 29 for 218 yards and 1 touchdown. He did have a major mistake throwing an interception in the end zone, but overall this was a very solid performance against major pressure.
The senior continues to show why he’s a major playmaker pulling down 6 balls for 60 yards and a touchdown. Is Goody one of the all-time best Bearcats? It would be hard to keep him off any such list as he continues his climb in the UC record books.
Defense Game Balls
Revels posted 12 total tackles on the day coming off the Bearcats bench. He showed energy and the desire to mix it up when needed. Six of his tackles were solo.
Smith continues to show why he’ll be a first day draft pick with posting 11 tackles on the day.
Playing in his first game of the season the Colerain product showed he’s a major impact against any team. On the day he posted 9 tackles with 4 being solo.
Manny posted 8 total tackles with 1 tackle for a loss and 1 forced fumble on the day.
Special Teams Game Balls
See above for the reason Mardy is listed here. He kept the Bearcats in this game.
The senior has not lost a beat from last season having to punt 6 times for 286 yards, an average of 47.7 per punt. But where Huber does his most damage is pinning teams inside the twenty. On Saturday he did it twice.
