At 5-foot-8, 180-pounds Romel Dismuke of Benedictine High School could be called a mighty might. Having impressed several programs in the past few weeks, Dismuke found a home at the University of Cincinnati on Monday.
“I spoke with Coach Tresey today and told him I’m going to be a Bearcat. He said that was great and told me to call him back on Tuesday morning at 10 o-clock so I could tell Coach Kelly himself.”
For Dismuke the recruiting process started slow then picked up steam once he hit the camp season.
“I had offers from
Eastern Michigan
,
Toledo
and some other MAC programs and picked up one from
Pittsburgh
just a short time ago.”
Dismuke showed his abilities during the Under Armour / Scout.com Combine held in Pittsburgh running a 4.65 forty on a slow surface. But where the Cleveland native excelled was the shuttle. College coaches always look for defensive backs that post great shuttle times as it means the player has the ability to change direction while also being able to use his feet and open up his hips. Dismuke hit a 4.09 time in the event and did just as well during his recent camp visit with the Bearcats.
“
Cincinnati
has always been one of my top schools and this was an easy decision for me to make. I love everything about the football program and the school. Coach Kelly, Tresey and Molnar are all cool and I can’t wait to play for them.”
While Romel will begin his college career as a defensive back, he could also see himself on the offensive side of the ball due to his athletic ability.
Dismuke becomes the latest commitment to the Bearcats in the past several days that came to camp and earned an offer.
Here are a few clips of Romel from the Scout.com Combine this spring.
