Who Can Replace Huber?

Who Can Replace Huber?

The Bearcats have been blessed with the way Kevin Huber has performed. But can the Bearcats find a punter to recruit that has a chance of being as good as their current All-American? Bearcat Insider might have found just the right guy for the job. And he has interest in Cincinnati.

While covering recruiting is a passion for me, I’m always surprised at the slowness kickers are recruited.  For the most part punters and kickers are the last to get a scholarship if one is ever offered.  But time and again we watch a kicker or punter plays a key role in a team’s victory.

Last season the Bearcats saw what can happen why you have a punter capable of changing field position as Kevin Huber earned All-American honors.

Now, as Huber finishes his last spring wearing the Red & Black fans are asking will Brian Kelly look to recruit a punter with enough skills to replace Huber?  And if so does he offer him a scholarship at the start?

Those are questions only Brian Kelly and his staff can answer but Bearcat Insider might have found just the right punter for the job.

There once was a time when the Bearcats knew they could call upon Adam Wulfeck to handle the punting duties.  Do you remember the former Beechwood High School product during his Bearcat days as he earned All-Conference USA honors?

Wulfeck registered 214 punts for 9,008 yards during his college career with a 42.1- yard gross and a 38.6-yard net average.

Now another Wulfeck is looking to make his way into the college world kicking the football and the Bearcats are a team he’s got interest in.

Alex Wulfeck knows all about the Cincinnati Bearcats and the Cincinnati area.  As the cousin of former Bearcat Adam Wulfeck, young Alex has placed the Bearcats as one of his top programs to look at.

The Jacksonville native knows college coaches don’t throw out too many kicking scholarships and is working hard to continue his hold as the number one junior punter in the country by Ray Guy Prokicker.com and Kohl’s Kicking.

While Adam came from just across the river, Alex is based in Jacksonville, Florida at The Bolles School and reports he’s a giant fan of Skyline and Graeters.

With programs like Illinois, Wake Forest, North Carolina State, Iowa State, Miami Ohio, Minnesota and Tennessee in hot pursuit Alex Wulfeck is finding some heavy interest early in the recruiting process.
