Mick Cronin and his Bearcats will have a chance to improve on their season totals as they’ll take part in the inaugural College Basketball Invitational (CBI), which will start with first round game Wednesday against Bradley at 7:00 EST at Bradley.
A 16-team format, the CBI allows deserving programs a chance to experience postseason play having been left out of the NCAA or NIT events. While it’s not known who the Bearcats will play at the time of this release, the Bearcats will have to work hard as the first round game will be on the road and they’ve got final exams this week.
The Bearcats finished their season in the Big East Tournament this past weekend with an overall record of 13-18 and Big East mark of 8-10. The chance to continue play will help provide Coach Cronin and his staff the chance work with the young Bearcats a few extra days.
All of the games will be televised nationally by Fox College Sports with the tournament’s champion being determined by a best-of-three series scheduled for March 31, April 2, and April 4 with the higher seeded team playing at home in the first and, if necessary, the third game.
A win against Bradley would move the Bearcats to the second round to play the winner of Ohio verses Brown.
