Darwin Cook Left "Speechless" During Visit

We check in with Darwin Cook to get the latest about his visit to the University of Cincinnati on Sunday during Junior Day.

Darwin Cook of Cleveland Shaw High School is a name Bearcat fans will want to keep an eye on during the next few months. A Junior Day visitor this past Sunday, Cook left Cincinnati with a warm feeling and left him speechless then and now.

"I really liked the visit to Cincinnati," said Cook about his visit. "I was most impressed by all the televisions in the wall of the Lindner Varsity Village as you walk in. I've never seen anything like that before and then you have the big screen up in the air showing game highlights, it was great."

But while the looks of the Lindner Center may have surprised him it was the time he spent with Bearcats head coach Brian Kelly that left him "speechless" for a lack of a better word.

"Coach Kelly was great. I didn't know he was going to be talking with me by myself when I went there but they had me go to his office and he then offered me a scholarship to be a Bearcat. That left me speechless because I never dreamed I receive a college scholarship offer in my life."

While Cook is a soft spoken young man he knows just because he's holding an offer doesn't mean his work is done.

"I've got a lot of work to do with my game. I know I've got speed and that's my greatest strength but I know to have success at the college level I'll need to continue working on my technique to be the best player I'm capable of being."

Standing 6-foot-0, 180-pounds with a time in the forty of 4.49 proves Cook is ready when it comes to speed. And the performance he had at the Cleveland Combine proves he needs to continue to work on gaining more strength, but overall Cook is a solid prospect with great upside potential.

At this time Cook is hearing from Georgia Tech, Alabama, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Purdue and Ohio State. He list Cincinnati as his school of highest interest and while not ready to give a commitment knows he may be called upon to make a choice soon.

We'll continue to follow the latest on Darwin Cook in the coming weeks and months.
