After looking at a couple of different programs and turning down some scholarship offers from lower division programs, Mark Nelson will become a Bearcat.

Bearcat Insider spoke with Mark Nelson last week as he looked over his options to play college football.

With offers from several lower level programs, Nelson wanted to test himself against the best. He will get that chance as a preferred walk-on member of the Bearcats starting this fall.

According to his mother Cheryl, Coach Tim Hinton did a great job of showing her son the advantages of the Bearcats walk-on program.

"Mark committed to Coach Hinton on Thursday as a preferred walk-on for the Class of 2008. We are all very happy with his decision and look forward to him joining such a great class of recruits for 2008."

Bearcat Insider looks forward to watching Mark as he follows his dreams of being a Bearcat.
