College recruiting is unpredictable in some cases, and when it comes to Sean Patterson of St. John’s Jesuit in Toledo, that’s certainly the case. As the February 7th signing day gets closer, more and more schools are looking to fill a need. One school looking a long way from home to fill its quarterback need is Ron McBride of Weber State.
Sean and his father visited the Ogden, Utah campus from Friday to Sunday and returned with an offer. Coach McBride indicated that Sean may not be redshirted and would likely compete for the starting quarterback job immediately at the Division IAA school.
Upon their return to Toledo, the Pattersons learned from St. John’s head football coach Doug Pearson that Division II national champs, Grand Valley State, wants to schedule an official visit to Grand Rapids, Michigan for Saturday, and Central Michigan had called inquiring about Sean and wanting senior videotape.
Coach McBride at Weber State has given the Pattersons a Monday deadline for accepting their offer.
