karl Goebel a Former Ball State
athlete and now father to Bloomfield (Mich.) Brother Rice running back John Goebel
(6-0, 190, 4.6) has informed Scout.com that John has made his verbal pledge to the Cincinnati
"We made a very thorough visits to Cincinnati," Karl Goebel said. "We felt very strongly about it and John decided to commit. I think Coach Dantonio is doing some big things down there and he knows how to win."
Goebel chose the Bearcats over offers from Bowling Green, Ball State, Central Michigan, and Eastern Michigan. Although he was beginning to receive some Bigger interest.
"A lot of Big ten schools were showing interest," Karl Goebel said. " My oldest son Mark played at Michigan State, I played at Ball State, so we may as well give the Big East a try now."
Goebel ran for 1,186 yards and eight touchdowns as a junior. He was named first team All-catholic, first team All-Area, second team All-Detroit North, and second team All-County.
Genetically the Goebel family has produced a college football players, so its of no surprise that a third generation of Goeble family will follow the lead of his father and older brother into the land of NCAA D-1 football.
The Bearcats landed their fourth verbal pledge for the Class of 2006 today.
