BIG 33 WILL SEE MANY BEARCATS

From six to eight, the University of Cincinnati's low ranked recruiting class will be a major part of the Big 33 Game next Saturday. Bearcat Insider spoke with Mike Mickens while the team bus was on it's way to Hershey, Pa. about being added to Team Ohio.

One week from today, two groups of High School All-Stars will take the field of Hershey Park Stadium (Hershey, PA) to battle one last time before taking to the many college fields across the country. The University of Cincinnati will be represented during the 48th Annual Classic with a total of eight recruits for Team Ohio and Team Pennsylvania combined.

When the original rosters were announced the Bearcats saw six recruits honored by making the team, but with several players backing out, coaches looked to find quality replacements. With the additions of Brad Jones and Mike Mickens Team Ohio will see seven future UC players take the field.

Bearcat Insider caught up with Mickens while Team Ohio was in transport from Ohio to Hershey during Friday.

BCI: Are you excited about being on the team?

Mike: Very much so! This is a great honor and I'm happy to be part of a great group of guys.

BCI: Is Brad Jones also on the team?

Mike: Yes, he's here.

BCI: Is all the UC guys making the trip?

Mike: I think so. I can't say for sure, but I do believe everyone is going to play.

BCI: Where are you at now?

Mike: We've stopped to eat and will be getting back on the bus here in a little bit.

BCI: Have the coaches explained what role you will play during the game?

Mike: I'm going to be a corner and play some special teams.

Mike: We'll there telling me I need to get going.

BCI: Mike we wish you the best and keep in touch this week when you get a chance.

Mike: Thanks, I will do that.

While we've not had the chance to confirm all eight Bearcats players made the trip to Hershey, here is the list of players expected to take the field during Saturday night's game.

Jared Martin - Ohio

Dominic Goodman - Ohio

Derrick Stewart - Ohio

Terrill Byrd - Ohio

Steve Gawronski - Ohio

Brad Jones - Ohio

Mike Mickens - Ohio

The two teams reported to Hershey on Friday and will take to the practice fields on Saturday to get ready for what is a great game and event. If you've never had the chance to see the Big 33 Game, look at making the trip to Hershey and I can assure you of having a great time. The people who put on this game do such a great job to make sure you do.
