As Bearcat football fans talk about recruits for next season, Jeff Cleveland’s name is often discussed. Jeff is a 6’ 1” 215 pound athlete from
Wayne High School in Huber Heights, Ohio. Despite playing tight end, receiver
and defensive end last year for Wayne, Cleveland projects as a linebacker at the
next level. Jeff expects to get the chance to play his natural position next
season for the Warriors.
The last couple weeks have been busy for Cleveland. He was in Akron for the
scout.com combine and then headed to Miami of Ohio before Bearcat Insider caught
up with him at UC’s camp. According to Jeff and other sources, Miami of Ohio has
a great deal of interest in him although no offers have been made at this
time.
In choosing a school, Jeff identified location as a major factor. He’d like
to stay close to his Huber Heights home. If the Bearcats decide to aggressively
recruit Jeff, they could have an advantage since Mike Mickens (2005 recruit)
played with Jeff at Wayne last season.
Before Jeff can sign a letter of intent, he knows he has to take care of
business in the classroom. “I still have some work to do. I have about a 2.3
GPA, and I got a 17 on the ACT, but I just took it again last week.”
Jeff is hoping to impress the Bearcat football coaches this week at camp with
his 4.4-4.5 speed and athleticism. Bearcat Insider will be on hand to report any
developments.
