As the Bearcat coaching staff was welcoming prospects for the Class of 2006,
one player stood out from the crowd. He wasn’t there for Junior night, and you
could tell his interest were more intense.
Dane Romero is one of the top athletes in Southwest Ohio. While Dane had
played running back and defensive back for Coach Larry Cox the previous two
seasons, a move to quarterback helped West to a great season. While the move
helped the team, some feel it hurt his recruiting.
Romero had seen early interest during the recruiting process but when the
dust settled after signing day, Dane Romero was left looking for a school. With
interest from some I-AA schools, none of them came through with a total package.
Dane has the talent to compete at the next level, now it's a matter of where
he heads to play college football.
On Thursday night Dane was looking at the Bearcats program as a possible
walk-on. While I'm sure Dane would prefer to be a scholarship player, he
projects as a top walk-on prospect for the Bearcats.
Bearcat Insider will keep you posted on Dane and other players looking to
call Cincinnati home.
