"It feels great that the Spring Game and spring practice are now finished," Leahy said. But to get out here and play as a team, it's much needed and we're working everyday to get better at our respective positions. And from what I've seen and experienced from these practices, we're definitely going into the right direction as a team."
When Leahy was asked about how the spring practices have brought the whole team together, he talked about discipline.
"When you go through spring and summer practices, it basically is football 24/7," Leahy said. "You see these guys every single day. When you're going up against the same defensive linemen day in and day out, you begin to learn their tendencies and for the defensive linemen its the exact same thing, they have to learn our tendencies. It is a grind but once the season starts, we'll be a closer and more connected team because of it. And if we're more connected, we'll be a more successful team on the field come game time."
Leahy was finally asked about the improvements that he has made from his freshman year and what he plans to improve upon for the start of the season.
"I've definitely improved because I gained some weight through this offseason to get my strength up. As for things I need to improve on, my footwork, it's still kind of weird because when I came here to UC, my footwork was iffy to say the least. All I wanted was to go out there and knock some heads first. But the coaches talked with me and they told me that I had to let the game slow down to me and I would be better prepared for things to come and I've without a doubt benefitted from it."
