Witty Looking to Lead in Final Year

Adrian Witty is working to become one of the Bearcats top leaders in his final season.

Entering his fifth and final year at the University of Cincinnati, cornerback Adrian Witty wants to be one of the solid leaders of the defensive side of the ball for the upcoming football season. Coming from Deerfield Beach, Florida, Witty was one of the defensive leaders of the secondary last season starting from the very first game of the season when he returned his first career interception 41 yards for a touchdown in a blowout 42-7 victory over the Purdue Boilermakers.

Insider caught up with Witty talk about the upcoming season, rebounding from the disappointing loss at the Belk Bowl and the team's expectations on the defensive side of the ball. When asked about how it felt to get the pads on again.

"Well considering that this is my fifth year, I've been through this four times before and it's more of business for me. Plus, I'm still a little sore to be honest. I mean for the younger guys, it's exciting for them to finally get to hit someone but it's still a great moment for the team," Witty said.

Tommy Tuberville hired two co-defensive coordinators in the offseason and Insider asked whether the defense has changed at all in his eyes and would he have to change his style.

"Honestly, not that much different. There's a few kinks here and there but for the most part it's still the same defense. It's going to be harder for the younger players but I believe they'll step up to the curve real quick."
