Better Late Than Never

Davon Witherspoon

It took awhile to receive his letter of intent but it's better late than never. Witherspoon is a safety looking to make a impact early.

At the time of the press conference with Coach Tommy Tuberville, he could not speak about the one letter he had not received. But as soon as things wrapped up word was in that Davon Witherspoon would be joining the Cincinnati Bearcats.

Witherspoon played his high school ball at McArthur High School (Miami, FL). In his senior season he finished with 76 tackles, four interceptions and four touchdowns. Asked what made UC the school of his choice and how signing day was?

"Signing Day was crazy," Witherspoon said. "The deciding factor was that coach Graham made me feel welcome."

Coach Hank Hughes talked about Witherspoon potential as a Bearcat.

"Davon is a big-time athlete who can play multiple positions providing great versatility," said Hughes. "His alibity to run and make plays in space will land him in the mix for playing time right away on Defense and Special Teams."
