Cincinnati has won two of the last three meetings with Xavier, last year with a 60-45 victory at U.S. Bank Arena. Last season meeting was the first at a neutral site in some time, while UC leads the all-time series 49-31.
UC is lead by Sean Kilpatrick, who was named to the American Athletic Conference weekly honor roll on Monday. Last week he averaged 20.5 points, 4.5 assists and 3.4 rebounds. He leads the AAC in scoring (19.6) and 3-pointers per game (3.0) as of Tuesday.
Freshman Troy Caupain has been a huge help for the Bearcats, last week he averaged 13 points, 3 assists with a career-high 15 points against USC Upstate and 11 points against New Mexico. UC defense looks to be the key to victory tomorrow night, as they have forced 21.6 turnovers and scored 27.6 points off those turnovers.
While UC has been off since last Saturday, the Muskies played on Tuesday against Evansville, led in the game by Semaj Christon who had 19 points in the close victory. XU looks to attack the Bearcats defense with Christon, Myles Davis, Dee Davis and Matt Stainbrook down low.
Stainbrook coming off a double-double with 10 points and a career-high 15 rebounds against Evansville. He leads the team and is third in the Big East in rebounding with 8.9 per game. Justin Jackson vs Stainbrook should be a match up to watch tomorrow.
Even if this rivalry has lost some stream in recent years, U.S. Bank Arena will still be rocking with both student sections in the building. Tip off is at 8 p.m. on Fox Sports 1.
