Sunday came word that Arkansas wide receiver MeKale McKay would transfer to Cincinnati after being granted his scholarship release from the Razorbacks and head coach Bret Bielema.
McKay, who is originally from Louisville (KY) Moore High School, played last season as a true freshman for the Razorbacks pulling down 21 balls for 317 yards and two touchdowns.
Standing 6-foot-6, 195-pounds, McKay is looking to have a chance to play this fall for the Bearcats as he’s requested a hardship waiver from the NCAA to become eligible for the 2013 season.
There are some ties to the Bearcats program as one of McKay’s former high school coaches was former Bearcats defensive back Antoine Horton.
The Bearcats had recruited McKay out of high school where he also had scholarship offers from Tennessee, Mississippi, Indiana, Houston, Kentucky as well as the Razorbacks who he signed with a couple of weeks after signing day in 2012.
